The starting pitchers for the games will be Carl Pavano for Minnesota and Jeremy Guthrie for the Orioles. Pavano is 11-6 with a 3.48 ERA; he as held opponents to a .273 batting average while strking out 77 and walking 18. Guthrie on the other hand is a dismal 3-10 with an ERA of 4.58. He has struck out 63 and walked 35 while allowing opponents to hit .321 against him. Correction it looks like Kevin Millwood will be activated from the DL and will start on Thursday night. Millwood is 2-8 with a 5.77 ERA. Neither of these pitchers have faced either teams so it should be interesting to see how the games unfold. In my humble opinion, motivation is going to be a big factor in this series. The Twins are just 2.5 games out of first place while the Orioles are stuck in the basement of the American League East. The Twins will come out very aggressive against a weaker opponent and will look to strike early. Minnesota will dominate in all aspects of the game but look for a very big gap between pitching and hitting. The Twins will sweep the series and if they don't they will only lose one game. May be a fun series to watch if you are a Minnesota fan but there will be better games to wager on. The line should open in the -150 range favoring the Twins.
