The Baltimore Orioles take their winning streak on the road against the Oakland A’sThe Baltimore Orioles are on a winning streak and look to get back in the American League East on a west coast trip that starts with the Oakland A’s.

Betting baseball will make the long season more exciting and there is no place better to wager on major league baseball than BetPhoenix. Online sportsbook BetPhoenix has the latest odds and wagering opportunities on every game in baseball.

The Baltimore Orioles’ longest winning streak in nearly two years has returned them to .500. Getting above the break-even mark will likely require solving Gio Gonzalez.

The Orioles look for their first six-game winning streak in over three seasons when they face Gonzalez and the Oakland Athletics in the opener of a three-game series Friday night.

Baltimore (24-24) has won five in a row for the first time since June 2009, and the club hasn’t managed a six-game winning streak since April 2-8, 2008.

Equaling that run will give the Orioles a winning record for the first time since they were 6-5 on April 14.

Collectively, the Orioles are batting .285 with 14 doubles and six homers over the last five games. However, continuing that success in the opener of a six-game road trip Friday will be a major challenge against Oakland (24-27) and Gonzalez (5-2, 2.20 ERA).

The Orioles have lost 17 of 21 to the A’s, including nine of 10 in Oakland.

The A’s rotation will present a major challenge, as it boasts a major league-leading 2.56 ERA and has allowed one earned run or less in seven of the past eight games.

Gonzalez is among the AL leaders in wins and ERA, and he’s been even better at home with a 3-1 record and 1.93 ERA while striking out 33 in 32 2-3 innings over five games.

The left-hander is 3-0 with a 1.65 ERA in his last four overall starts, and he was impressive again in Sunday’s 5-4, 11-inning loss at San Francisco. He yielded one earned run with eight strikeouts in 6 2-3 innings.

Both of Gonzalez’s starts against the Orioles have come in Baltimore and he’s 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA. The A’s are trying to carry some momentum into a six-game homestand after beating Los Angeles 4-3 on Thursday to take two of three from the AL West rival.

In one of the better games of the night, the Orioles squeak by the Oakland A’s and extend their winning streak.
