MLB Baseball Series Preview: Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago White Sox
MLB Baseball Series Preview: Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago White SoxThe series between the Oakland Athletics vs. Chicago White Sox is a tale of teams headed in opposite directions. This series could be a chance for the Oakland Athletics to play better baseball, but will be challenged by the red-hot White Sox.

The latest MLB Baseball Odds have the White Sox listed as home favorites, which is expected considering how poorly the Athletics have played of late.

In game one six game winner Trevor Cahill will take on Mark Buehrle of the home standing White Sox.

Cahill lasted seven innings against the Red Sox and struck out eight while walking just one. However, we gave up a season-high five runs, all earned, on eight hits en route to a no-decision. He also gave up a home run for the third straight outing.

After allowing at least four earned runs in four of his first five starts, Buehrle hasn't given up that many in any of his last seven starts. During that time, he has improved his record to 5-4 and lowered his ERA to 3.95.

In game two, Bobby Cramer will go for the A’s and he will be put up against Edwin Jackson for the White Sox. Jackson threw 62 pitches in the first two innings of his last outing, but settled down and used just 62 more to get through the next four innings, earning a no-decision while allowing just two runs over six innings.

In game three the young and resourceful Gio Gonzalez will go up against John Danks for the Pale Hose. Danks has struggled all year long but in his last outing he got a win that may be a sign that he is coming around.

The last and final game of the season is on Sunday and the pitching matchups have yet to be announced, but the series could be over by then.

The latest sports betting trends for this series, show a very interesting pattern. The Athletics are 1-4 in Cahills last five starts against the White Sox, but the home team has some damaging trends as well. The White Sox are 0-4 in Buehrles last four home starts against the Athletics and 6-18 in Buehrles last 24 starts when playing the Athletics.

Luckily for the home team, the Athletics have a laundry list of reasons to go against them in this series. The Athletics are 1-6 in their last seven during game 1 of a series, 2-6 in their last 8 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30, and 0-8 in their last 8 overall.

The White Sox seem to have everything lined up in their favor for this game. They have the home field advantage, the pitching and catch the Oakland A’s playing some of their worst baseball of the year. This series may not be a sweep but the savy online sports bettor will be betting on the home team.

The Athletics have had a hard time coming up with clutch hits and winning pitching. Take the White Sox to win this series in demanding fashion as the Athletics get tired of playing on the road and will struggle to put complete games together.
