MLB Baseball Series Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
MLB Baseball Series Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red SoxThe best rivalry in all of sports gets underway on Tuesday night June the 7th when the New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox series highlights a great week in baseball. It is always a great series when these two teams face off, but it is even more important as first place is on the line in the American League East.

The latest MLB Baseball Odds have the Yankees listed as favorites to win this series as they are the home team, although that did not matter the last time these two teams met. The Red Sox swept the Yankees in the Bronx sending a message to the Bronx Bombers. Now the Yankees will take a shot at revenge.

In game of the series the Red Sox will send Jon Lester to the mound. The power lefty has been in a bit of a rut of late, giving up four earned runs or more in four of his last five starts. But he should be energized for this start, making it on seven days' rest. Lester got the win at Yankee Stadium on May 15.

The Yankees counter with Freddy Garcia. Garcia reaped the benefits of run support in a win against Oakland last time out, working seven innings of three-run ball. He struck out five and walked two. In his only start against Boston this season, Garcia allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

This series has the chance to make history. Jonathan Papelbon has a shot at perhaps picking up career save No. 200 in Yankee Stadium. Derek Jeter is inching closer to becoming Major League Baseball's 28th 3,000-hit man. While that most likely won’t happen in this series it will be interesting to watch, nonetheless.

In game two the Yankees will attempt to hit the knuckleball of Tim Wakefield. In the opposing clubhouse, the Yankees will hand the ball over to A.J. Burnett.

In game three, the finale of this series. The Red Sox will send veteran Josh Bekett to the hill to go up against CC Sabathia in what should be the best pitching matchup of the series.

The sports betting trends favor a high scoring game and give the edge to the visiting team. The Over is 5-1 in Lester’s last six starts against the Yankees and the Over is 13-6-2 in the last 21 meetings.

The Red Sox are 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and 6-1 in the last seven meetings in New York.

Only one game separates these teams in the standings and it’s guaranteed to get ugly as these two bitter rivals face off. The Yankees come home after a long road trip and that will allow the Red Sox to get the jump on the Yankees and continue their dominance over the pinstripes.

The Red Sox win two out of three and cash in for online sports betting enthusiasts. Take the Red Sox to win the series against the New York Yankees.
