The Minnesota Twins Limp Home To Face the LA Dodgers
The Minnesota Twins Limp Home To Face the LA DodgersThe Minnesota Twins have dealt with injuries all year long and it’s happened again. Now they head home to continue interleague play against the LA Dodgers.

Betting baseball will make the long season more exciting and there is no place better to wager on major league baseball than BetPhoenix. Online sportsbook BetPhoenix has the latest odds and wagering opportunities on every game in baseball.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire can't wait to get back to the comforts of Target Field.

The Twins, who will square off against the Dodgers on Monday in the first game of a nine-game homestand, have lost five games in a row and could use a little home cooking.

Minnesota, coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Milwaukee, is 14-16 at home and 18-28 on the road this season.

Nick Blackburn will get the start for the Twins. The Dodgers will counter with Chad Billingsley, who allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings against the Tigers in his last outing. He didn't made it through the sixth inning in any of his past four starts.

"The main thing was throwing my breaking ball for a strike," Billingsley said. "I was able to bounce it when I needed to, to keep the hitters off balance."

As for Blackburn, he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over six innings against the Giants for his first loss since April 28. All three of San Francisco's runs were driven in by catcher Eli Whiteside, who entered the game batting just .207.

"Considering that, it could have been a lot uglier than it was," said Blackburn, who fell to 6-5 while lowering his ERA to 3.15 in the loss. "Fortunately, we were able to keep them off balance a little bit, and that probably kept me in the game a little bit longer than if we weren't."

The Twins are exploring all options in an effort to keep Joe Mauer in the starting lineup. The All-Star catcher will start working out at first base this week. It's not inconceivable to believe Mauer will eventually see some action at third base as well.

After three poor outings to start June, Billingsley responded by allowing one run in 5 1/3 innings against the Tigers, earning a win that evened his record at 6-6. He hasn't made it through the sixth inning in any of his past four starts.

Nick Blackburn battled without his best stuff against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits over six innings to get saddled with his first loss since April 28. He's never faced the Dodgers in his five-year career.

The Twins need to start winning games as they have slipped to nine games back in the American League Central. Getting back home is a good start and will be just what the need to get back on the winning track.

The Twins, although battered and bruised will finally put it together and take down the visiting Dodgers.
