MLB Picks, Predictions and Pitching Matchups for Wednesday July 6th
MLB Picks, Predictions and Pitching Matchups for Wednesday July 6thThe baseball schedule for Wednesday gets started early with a few afternoon games to get things started.

Detroit Tigers at LA Angels

Brad Penny took a no-decision last time out despite seven innings of one-run ball against the Giants, extending his winless streak to five starts. He'll be pitching at home in California for the second time in his past four starts. He will oppose Tyler Chatwood.

Chatwood gave up four runs on a season-high 12 hits in his last outing after giving up one run in his previous 14 innings. The 12 was also the most by an Angels starter this season, though it was also the sixth time he received 0 runs of support.

The sports betting trends favor the Halos in this game. The Tigers are 2-5 in Pennys last seven road starts and 16-35 in the last 51 meetings in Los Angeles.

Penny will struggle and the Angels will take down the Tigers.

MLB Free Pick: LA Angels

Mets at Dodgers

The Mets are playing decent baseball even without the services of their best player.

Jon Niese gave up three runs in the first inning against the Yankees on Friday, but rebounded with five scoreless innings afterward. He struck out seven hitters and worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth to keep the Mets in the game.

Hiroki Kuroda posted a 2.12 ERA in June, but because of a lack of run support, didn't get a win. He kicked off July pitching just as well, and finally broke through for his first win since mid-May with seven shutout innings in Anaheim.

The Mets are 14-6 in their last 20 games against a right-handed starter and the Dodgers are 5-16 in their last 21 Wednesday games.

The Mets are playing their best baseball of the season and will keep rolling along against the Dodgers.

MLB Free Pick: New York Mets

Philadelphia Phillies at Florida Marlins

Kyle Kendrick allowed eight hits, six runs, one walk and two home runs and hit two batters in seven innings Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays at Roger Centre, but he was in line for the win before allowing a two-run homer to Jose Bautista.

Anibal Sanchez lost for the second time this season and for the first time since April 10 in a 15-5 loss to the Rangers. He allowed seven earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. The loss snapped a career high six-game winning streak.

The Phillies are 3-8 in Kendricks last 11 road starts against a team with a losing record and the Home team is 4-0 in Doug Eddings' last four games behind home plate.

The Marlins are getting production from the middle of the order of late and that will be enough to steal a win in this series.

MLB Free Pick: Florida Marlins
