MLB Picks, Predictions and Pitching Matchups for Thursday July 14th
MLB Picks, Predictions and Pitching Matchups for Thursday July 14thThe MLB Pitching matchups for Thursday July 14th are set way in advance since teams have had several days off to stack their lineup for the second half of the season. The All-Star break is now over with and teams are getting ready to make a run in the second half of the season.

Here is a preview along with predictions of some of the best matchups of the day.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays

The New York Yankees will begin the second half of the season north of the border as they play a series in Canada against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bartolo Colon will get the start for the pinstripes. The Yankees' biggest surprise of the first half will try to prove it was no fluke, though he entered the All-Star break on a sour note. The 38-year-old allowed a season-high 10 hits and matched a season high with four walks his last time out.

The Jays will send southpaw Ricky Romero to the mound in Thursday's series opener, pending his status following's Tuesday's All-Star Game. The left-hander has completed at least six innings in nine of his last 10 starts, and has held the opponent to three earned runs or less eight times in that span.

The Blue Jays are 4-10 in their last 14 home games and they are 2-7 in their last nine home games against a team with a winning road record.

The Yankees may start the second half of the season without Alex Rodriquez but they will still manage to get a win.

MLB Free Pick: New York Yankees

Florida Marlins vs. Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs floundered in the first half of the regular season, but look for a fresh start to the second half of the season when they host the Florida Marlins.

Matt Garza gets the start for the second half of the season for the Cubs. Garza was acquired in a trade in the offseason and he has yet to live up to his expectations. Garza's last two starts were total opposites. He threw a complete game against the White Sox and lost on July 2, and followed that with his second shortest outing on July 7 against the Nationals, which the team won.

The Marlins will send six-game winner Anibal Sanchez to the hill against the Cubbies. Florida's most consistent starter in the first half, Sanchez often pitched in hard luck, as he last won on June 10 vs. Arizona. He has struggled his last two starts, allowing 12 runs in 7 2/3 innings. He is 1-2 (6.91 ERA) in three starts vs. Chicago.

The Marlins are 5-11 in Sanchezs last 16 road starts against a team with a losing record and 7-19 in their last 26 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Cubs are 4-1 in their last five home games following a road trip of seven or more days and the Marlins are 0-6 in the last six games against the Cubs.

MLB Free Pick: Chicago Cubs
