The Chicago White Sox Look To Take the Series From the Kansas City Royals
The Chicago White Sox Look To Take the Series From the Kansas City RoyalsThe Chicago White Sox are attempting to steal the series from the Kansas City Royals, but if they want to do that they will need get a good pitching performance.

Betting baseball will make the long season more exciting and there is no place better to wager on major league baseball than BetPhoenix. Online sportsbook BetPhoenix has the latest odds and wagering opportunities on every game in baseball.

After a forgettable start to the season, John Danks dominated opponents during a three-start stretch prior to getting hurt late last month. The crafty left-hander hopes to pickup right where he left off in his first game back after being sidelined with a strained right oblique.

Danks tries to stay undefeated in nine tries against the Kansas City Royals, who conclude a three-game set with the visiting Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.

The Royals (39-58) had averaged 2.5 runs in losing five of six, but they came out with a sense of urgency in Tuesday’s 4-2 victory after manager Ned Yost’s pregame speech. Melky Cabrera stayed hot at the plate, going 2 for 4 with his 12th home run, and Danny Duffy threw seven strong innings.

“I was really affected by what (Yost) said,” said Duffy. “We’re playing for more than just this team. We’re playing for the fans.”

Cabrera, 26 for 62 (.419) over his last 15 games, has hit safely in all seven meetings with the White Sox (47-50) this season. He’s posted a .394 average over that span and will try to continue his torrid pace versus Danks (3-8, 4.21 ERA).

Danks, who compiled a 5.25 ERA and was tagged with a career worst-tying eight straight losing decisions over his first 11 starts, seemed to turn a corner in June, when he allowed a combined three earned runs en route to winning three consecutive outings to open the month.

Danks recorded the first five outs of his next start before injuring himself while running to back up third base on a fly ball during a 3-0 win over Washington on June 25. The fifth-year veteran, however, showed no ill effects from the injury in his most recent rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, throwing six shutout innings in a win over Louisville.

“I went at it like a regular game. I didn’t have anything to worry about,” Danks told the White Sox’s official website. “Just try to get outs and try to win a game. It felt like I had plenty in the tank. I’m looking forward to getting out on a big league mound and helping us out.”

Given his efforts against the Royals, Danks could be in for an impressive July debut. Danks, 2-0 with a 2.74 ERA over eight career matchups with Kansas City, has compiled a 1.87 ERA in five outings at Kauffman Stadium - his best mark at any AL ballpark.

The Royals counter with Bruce Chen (5-3, 3.56), who has also experienced some recent success in this series.

Chen earned a victory after allowing one run and four hits in six innings of a 4-1 win at U.S. Cellular Field on July 6. He owns a 2.65 ERA in four starts against the White Sox since 2010.

The left-hander gave up four runs and a season-high nine hits in five innings of Thursday’s 8-4 road loss to Minnesota. Chen, however, has yet to lose at home, where he’s gone 3-0 in six starts this year.

Chen has struggled facing Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski, who have each taken him deep twice while going a combined 14 for 37 (.378).

In contrast, Danks will try to add to Alex Gordon’s recent woes. Gordon, mired in a 4-for-22 (.182) slump over his last six games, is 1 for 13 versus Danks.

Danks will be on top of his game and the White Sox will get the win and the series win against KC.
