The Chicago Cubs Try To Get Back Into the Race Against the Milwaukee Brewers
The Chicago Cubs Try To Get Back Into the Race Against the Milwaukee BrewersThe Chicago Cubs need to win now if they want to start getting back in the race against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Betting baseball will make the long season more exciting and there is no place better to wager on major league baseball than BetPhoenix. Online sportsbook BetPhoenix has the latest odds and wagering opportunities on every game in baseball.

Coming off a 5-6 road trip, Milwaukee (55-49) scored all its runs in the first inning of a 3-2 victory Tuesday to improve to 34-14 at home. Tied for the second-most home wins in the majors, the Brewers have not won four straight over the Cubs at Miller Park since 2005.

Accomplishing that feat will be a challenge against Zambrano (7-5, 4.70 ERA), who is 7-0 with a 2.40 ERA his last eight starts at Miller Park, including his no-hitter against Houston in a relocated Astros’ home game Sept. 14, 2008.

He is 6-0 with a 2.85 ERA in seven starts against the Brewers at Miller Park since losing there Aug. 9, 2006. Zambrano allowed four runs and walked three in six innings but came out ahead in Chicago’s 7-4 win at Milwaukee on April 8.

“Sometimes, I get lucky,” he said.

Zambrano, however, gave up five runs and nine hits in six innings of a 9-5 loss to the Brewers at Wrigley Field on June 15.

The right-hander allowed two runs and nine hits over six innings of a 4-2 win over Houston on Friday for his first win in two starts since missing the first half of July with lower-back tightness.

“I feel 100 percent,” Zambrano said. “My sinker was good. Nothing was bothering me. I’m back on track.”

Ryan Braun, a lifetime .275 hitter with a homer versus Zambrano, had three hits with an RBI on Tuesday while Casey McGehee added a two-run triple. John Axford matched a franchise record with his 25th consecutive save.

Braun, who had homered in each of his previous two contests, has hit .478 (11 for 23) with seven RBIs in his last six contests.

Teammate Prince Fielder is a lifetime .341 hitter with five doubles and three homers against Zambrano, but is batting .143 (4 for 28) with no homers or RBIs and 10 strikeouts in his last seven games.

Zack Greinke (7-4, 4.84) hopes for a better outing Wednesday than his first against the Cubs, who tagged him for a season-high eight runs - six earned - and struck out 10 in 5 1-3 innings of a 12-7 loss at Wrigley Field on June 16.

“It wasn’t that bad,” said Greinke, who is 5-0 with a 4.09 ERA in his last seven home starts. “They had good at-bats. That was the main thing. A lot of their guys put good at-bats and good swings.”

Though the right-hander is 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA in five games since beating Tampa on June 21, Greinke allowed a pair of solo homers and struck out seven in seven innings of a 4-0 loss at Arizona on Thursday.

Aramis Ramirez is 0 for 3 with two strikeouts versus Greinke, but hit a two-run shot Tuesday for his 19th of the season. The veteran third baseman has hit 14 of those home runs and driven in 29 RBIs while batting .351 over his last 29 games.

The Cubs get a win in this game and start to make up ground in the division.
