The Cincinnati Reds Look To Salvage a game against the New York Mets
The Cincinnati Reds Look To Salvage a game against the New York MetsDespite Losing earlier in the year, the New York Mets are winning again. Too bad for the Reds.

Betting baseball will make the long season more exciting and there is no place better to wager on major league baseball than BetPhoenix. Online sportsbook BetPhoenix has the latest odds and wagering opportunities on every game in baseball.

The Mets hope the red-hot duo can continue pounding the Reds as they try to take the first three of this four-game set at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday night.

Wright is 10 for 24 with three doubles, one homer and seven RBIs in five games since returning from a back injury that sidelined him in May.

Murphy has a .353 average with 34 RBIs since May 20, and has collected seven hits and four RBIs in the past three games.

They combined for five hits and three RBIs as New York (52-51) scored six unearned runs thanks to three Cincinnati errors in an 8-6 win Tuesday. Wright and Murphy paced the Mets’ 4-2 win a night earlier, totaling four hits and two RBIs.

The duo has a habit of feasting on Reds pitching.

Wright, batting .253, has a .346 average with nine home runs and 26 RBIs in 41 games against the Reds, while Murphy is 13 for 35 with eight RBIs in eight contests.

The Mets are expected to have Angel Pagan back in the lineup after dehydration kept him out for two games. He had an RBI single as a pinch-hitter Tuesday, and is batting .371 in nine games versus the Reds.

“Thank God the tests were negative,” Pagan told the team’s official website. “They didn’t find anything wrong with me, so I’m ready to go.”

While the Reds (50-53) are trying to rebound from one of their worst defensive showings of the season, Arroyo (7-8, 5.56) is looking to continue his dominance of the Mets.

The right-hander is 7-2 with a 3.31 ERA in 11 starts against them, winning his last five decisions in six games behind a 2.54 ERA. He’s also conceded just two homers in that stretch.

Arroyo has been victimized by the long ball all season, giving up a major-league-high 29, two fewer than his career high set in 2006 and matched in 2009.

He’s surrendered 12 over his last five starts while going 1-2 with a 7.63 ERA.

Arroyo didn’t get a decision, but his rough stretch continued Friday, giving up three homers among nine hits and four runs overall in 6 2-3 innings of a 6-4 defeat to Atlanta. The Mets turn to Mike Pelfrey (5-9, 4.73), who is 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA over his last three starts.

The right-hander struggled again Friday, giving up four runs and five hits, including two homers, with four walks in six innings while not getting a decision in a 7-6 win at Florida.

Pelfrey, 2-8 with a 5.79 ERA in 13 road starts, has won his only two decisions in Cincinnati while compiling a 5.50 ERA in three games. However, he hasn’t appeared there since a victory on April 8, 2009.

Pelfrey may have to contend with Yonder Alonso, who was recalled from Triple-A Louisville after Cincinnati traded Jonny Gomes to Washington for two minor leaguers Tuesday.

Alonso, the seventh overall pick in the June 2008 draft, was hitting .296 with 12 homers and 56 RBIs in the minors. The Mets keep winning as the Reds keep on reeling.
