| Baseball Betting Preview: Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers |
The Rangers know they belong, so they don't feel the need to prove themselves against a fellow postseason contender. Texas will play host to Boston for the opener of a four-game series on Monday night, and the Rangers have elected not to get caught up in the potential implications. "All year, obviously, you have tests," said second baseman Ian Kinsler. "It seems like every road trip or every homestand people are saying, 'This is an important homestand' [or] 'This is an important road trip.' You're always playing against tough teams -- that's what the game's about. "[The Red Sox are] a very good team right now and we feel like we're playing good baseball, so it should be a good series. We'll see what happens, but I don't think it has any extra meaning or anything like that. We're just trying to win every game we possibly can." That mentality started with manager Ron Washington, who set an example for his players by declining to answer a question about the Red Sox before Sunday's game against Chicago. Texas, despite its setback on Sunday, will come into this series with momentum. The Rangers went 7-3 on their recent road trip, losing two of the three games by a one-run margin. Boston, meanwhile, is 5-6 in its last 11 games and trails New York by a half-game in the American League East standings. The Rangers will start left-hander C.J. Wilson, who has gone 3-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 16 career appearances -- four of them starts -- against Boston. The Red Sox will counter with Erik Bedard, who has gone 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA since arriving from Seattle at the non-waiver Trade Deadline. The Red Sox may be close to getting a couple regulars back in the lineup. David Ortiz, sidelined by a case of right heel bursitis, has taken batting practice each of the last two days and will attempt to run on Monday. Ortiz, out for the last seven games, hopes to return at some point in Texas. The Rangers catch the Red Sox playing without some of their best players and that should allow them to get the win in game one of this series. Play on Texas Rangers
