MLB Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
MLB Preview: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red SoxOn Tuesday the New York Yankees will start a very important series with the Boston Red Sox. These two teams are bitter rivals and always seem to be fighting for the American League East and this year is no different.
The latest odds on this series and this game can be found at the top rated sportsbook, BetPhoenix.

These two rivals are knotted atop the division and this series could go a long way in deciding who will emerge with the title. The two teams have gone back and forth in the standings all season long, but it’s the Red Sox who have gotten the better of New York in the meetings this year.

The two American League East clubs often find themselves embroiled in a divisional race while enjoying records that have them as high-probability playoff entrants come October. So they are often asked if it matters whether they win the division or ease into the playoff mix via the Wild Card.

Now that they're well clear of third-place Tampa Bay and set to square off in another series at Fenway Park beginning Tuesday night, Francona got the questions yet again.

The Red Sox won the World Series as a Wild Card, but have also been knocked out of the postseason after winning the division. The Red Sox on Saturday announced their rotation for the Yankees series -- Josh Beckett and Jon Lester following Lackey. After that, Francona is not sure if he'll go with Andrew Miller or Tim Wakefield when the team opens a series against Texas on Sept. 2.

The Yankees yet to announce their starter against Red Sox right-hander John Lackey. In game two they will send Phil Hughes to the mound and in the finale A.J. Burnett will get the ball.

Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis (lower back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday or Wednesday. He will not be available for this series until he is cleared to play.

Regardless of who is playing for either team, this is always a series that is filled with intensity, and with so much on the line, anything can happen.
