| MLB Pitching Matchups For Friday September 9th |
This is a first look at some of the better pitching matchups for Friday. Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers Roy Halladay was not his usual dominant self in his last start, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits over six innings. The ace right-hander took a no-decision against the Marlins. Shaun Marcum took a no-hitter into the sixth and finished with seven shutout innings Sunday for only his second win since July 28. The Brewers are a modest 15-14 when Marcum starts despite his fine ERA. Houston Astros at Washington Nationals Bud Norris is 1-2 with a 5.24 ERA in his past six starts, allowing 34 hits and striking out 36 batters in 34 1/3 innings in that span. He allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) in his most recent outing Saturday vs. the Brewers. Tom Milone, making his Major League debut, hit a home run on the first pitch in his first at-bat in an 8-7 victory over the Mets on Saturday night. He gave up four runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings, receiving a no-decision. Florida Marlins at Pittsburgh Pirates In his last start against the Phillies, Ricky Nolasco allowed four two-out runs on seven hits over six innings, but earned the no-decision when the Marlins came back to win. The right-hander will be working on five days' rest with the off-day on Thursday. In 26 starts since the beginning of 2010, Ross Ohlendorf has won just once. He is averaging 17 pitches per inning and has not pitched more than five innings in his three starts since returning from a lengthy absence. All of these games may not have playoff implications, but with the right amount of research, they can make you some money when it comes to sports betting.
