| Major League Baseball Pitching Matchups for Tuesday September 12th |
Here is a look at the must see matchups and some great pitching matchups for Tuesday. Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles David Price recorded his 200th strikeout of the season against a potent Rangers offense on Wednesday, but he did not factor in the decision. Price gave up two runs on eight hits in six innings. Alfredo Simon is looking for his first win since Aug. 23. He lost to Tampa Bay on Sept. 3, allowing seven hits and six runs in five innings. On Sept. 8, he allowed six hits and four runs in four innings in a no-decision against the Yankees. Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox Brandon Morrow allowed eight runs in 4 1/3 innings during his last start against Boston. He has surrendered 22 earned runs in his past 20 1/3 innings and hasn't won since Aug. 17 at Seattle. Most of the problems are related to poor command of the fastball. Tim Wakefield finally gets a chance to get his 200th win after missing numerous times. The veteran knuckleballer will take his eighth stab at win No. 200 when he opens a 10-game homestand. Wakefield allowed five runs in five innings in his last start, but still left with an 8-5 lead that the bullpen squandered. Florida Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves Mike Minor takes the hill after giving up seven hits and four earned runs in five innings of a 6-5 win over New York on Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader. Minor surrendered a grand slam to Jason Bay. Hand was a hard-luck loser Wednesday after allowing one run in six innings vs. the Mets. Hand allowed three hits and walked four. Opponents are hitting just .227 off Hand, but he's hurt himself by walking 32 batters in 50 2/3 innings. These are just a few of the great pitching matchups for Tuesday.
