Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs Homer Bailey is coming off one of his strongest starts of the season on Friday, when he tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball to beat the Rockies at Coors Field. Randy Wells tossed his fourth straight quality start Saturday against the Mets, giving up two runs in seven innings pitched. Well is 5-0 with a 3.02 ERA since Aug. 1., but his worst outing during that stretch came vs. the Reds, when he gave up six runs. San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies Jhoulys Chacin gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss Friday night to the Reds. He made it through five innings, then his command deserted him, and a leadoff walk paved the way for a three-run sixth. Ryan Vogelsong allowed three runs in eight innings Saturday but lost his fifth straight, 3-0, to the Dodgers. He put up a quality start but took the loss, a recurring theme. He has received three total runs of support during his current losing streak. Pittsburgh Pirates vs. LA Dodgers Dana Eveland was called up mostly as a reward for his Triple-A work, but he's responded with a pair of masterpiece starts and could work his way into the picture for the 2012 rotation if he can keep it up through September. The Dodgers have had such a bad year they hope to end on a good note. The Pirates started off the year great but since have faded from contention. Ross Ohlendorf was knocked around for six runs on 10 hits in a two-inning start on Friday. He has not been sharp in four starts since returning from injury.
