Well the best two teams in baseball are playing in the World Series and it has not been often in recent years that has come to fruition. Both teams have had their ups and downs this year, but when it comes down to it when they are at their best there are no teams that can touch them in their respective leagues. Now they face off each other with everything at stake in one of the most anticipated Fall Classics in years. Can the Yankees remember how to win on the games' biggest stage without Joe Torre in their first World Series appearance since 2003? Can the Phils become the first National League team to repeat since the Big Red Machine in 1976-77? We know one thing is true for both teams, they both have players that can almost single handedly help win it all for you both on the mound and in the batters box. For the Yanks A-Roid ,whether you like him or not , has been simply fantastic and hitting out of his mind thus far and CC Sabathia has been almost unhitable in his starts this postseason. For the Phils pitcher Cliff Lee has been almost has good as Sabathia and is capable of shutting down a potent lineup, just give the Dodgers a call and get their thoughts on the matter. Ryan Howard also has been unconscious in driving in runs for Philly and is striking out much less than in his recent postseason past. Pitching Match-up Game1- Phillies (Cliff Lee) VS Yankees (CC "Music Factory" Sabathia)- play that beat play that beat..BANG!! Current BetPhoenix.com line Game 1-Yankees -$168 Phillies +$150 Total 7.5 runs Over/Under on how many times Fox broadcaster Joe Buck will sound like a jackass during the series -69 Prediction- Series(Phillies in Seven) This should be one of the better World Series in recent memory as both these teams are so balanced in both pitching, hitting and defense. The one distinct edge goes to Philly skipper Charlie Manuel who already has a title under his belt and years more overall experience than Yanks skip Joe Girardi, who lets be honest made some very questionable moves in the ALCS that luckily didn'tcome back to haunt him. This series will have heart wrenching back and forth and plenty of late inning heroics from both teams , but when the dust settles I just feel the Phils are a pack of Big League chew better than NY and we all know how great Big League Chew is. When you consider they won the title last season and in many ways are playing even better than they did on the way to their first championship since the disco era. Game 1-Phillies 4 Yankees 2- Yes CC is on fire and if home field advantage meant a ton in baseball then this would be a different story. Not only does home field not mean as much in baseball as it does in other sports, but the Phils might actually have an advantage at Yankee Stadium by being able to use a DH instead of having their pitchers hit. The Phils as a team have a brief , but strong average against Sabathia and this is definitely the biggest start of CC's career. As we have seen with great regular season pitchers in the past, when they get to the Fall Classic their first start more times than not is shaky. Look for Ryan Howard and Chase Utley to have big games and for Cliff Lee to out pitch Sabathia for a big upset and the much stronger money line value in Game 1 Play - 2.5 BASEBALL DONUGHTS OUT OF 5 ON THE PHILS FOR GAME 1 Dan The Man Leach is a Taurus, sharp dresser, hopeless romantic, and can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
