| Jimenez Pitches First No-Hitter In Rockies History |
Baseball betting enthusiasts that backed the Rockies as a -130 road favored cashed tickets with the victory. The 4 runs scored went well UNDER the posted total of 8. Colorado is known as one of the top ‘OVER’ teams in Major League Baseball, but through six games have gone 5-5-1 against the total. The Atlanta Braves, meanwhile, despite having a legacy of top flight pitching talent have only gone UNDER in three games this season (6 OV, 2 push). Jimenez’s no hitter was not without a few anxious moments. The most significant came in the 7th inning when the Braves’ Troy Glaus hit a sharp, sinking line drive to left center field. Centerfielder Dexter Fowler was up to the task, making a spectacular diving catch to preserve Jimenez’s historic game. After the game, Jimenez said simply of Fowler’s catch: "The way he dove, I was like unbelievable.” Fowler described the play: "The ball hung up there long enough for me to go up there and get it. Usually if a ball goes up, I always think I had a chance to get it." Jimenez faced his last serious challenge in the 9th inning, dispatching the heart of the Atlanta order. He commented that he was concerned facing Martin Prado, Chipper Jones and Brian McCann with the no-hitter on the line: "Oh my God, Chipper and McCann. They're two of the best hitters in the league. Why did it have to be those guys? Can't they give me a break or something?" The Rockies finish up their series in Atlanta on Sunday before heading to Washington for a four game set with the Nationals. Jimenez’s no-hitter was the first in Major League Baseball since Mark Buehrle of the White Sox beat Tampa Bay 5-0 on July 23, 2009.

Until Saturday, a Colorado Rockies pitcher had never thrown a no-hit game in the entire eighteen year existence of the franchise. Ubaldo Jimenez changed all of that. Jimenez struggled with his control at times during his no hit gem, but worked out of trouble and otherwise befuddled the Atlanta Braves with a wicked 98 MPH fastball. The Rockies won the game 4-0 to improve to 6-5 on the year and are in second place in the NL West two games behind the San Francisco Giants. Kenshin Kawakami took the loss for Atlanta.
