| The New Look Orlando Magic Face the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day |
After quickly fading behind in the East and struggling through a road trip, Otis Smith, the Magic General manger, knew changes had to be made. The Magic looked to the Suns for a big deal and found another trading partner in the Wizards. The Suns made a blockbuster six-player deal that sent Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkalo and Earl Clark to Orlando for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mickael Pietrus. The Magic then sent Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards to get the controversial Gilbert Arenas. This new-look gave the Magic a team that could score with some of the best shooters in the East. This will be tested on Christmas Day. The Boston Celtics are all about business, and business is good. Doc Rivers leads a team of veterans that seemingly can turn it on for any game on the schedule. They are deep with talent on the bench and filled with Hall of Fame players in the starting rotation. They are one of the best teams in the NBA and sit atop the East, setting the bar for all other teams to follow. The Magic will have a game with the Spurs prior to the meeting on Christmas Day. This will lead to some other negative trends backing the Magic. The Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a winning road record and 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record. Dwight Howard will have to match up on the scoring end with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett if the Magic hope to get a win for their Christmas present.
