| Atlanta Hawks Head To Dallas To Take On Mavs |
Atlanta has plenty of talent, but over the past few seasons have become known as something of an erratic team. They're a team that's capable of looking like a championship contender on one night and a lottery bound doormat the following night. That was the case last week as the Hawks easily handled a resurgent Charlotte Bobcats team on the road, but in their prior game had been embarrassed at home by the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets held the Hawks to a historically low 59 points for the game—that’s the fewest points a Hawks team has scored since moving to Atlanta in the 1960's. Dallas has been on the wrong side of the win/loss ledger due to Nowitski's injury. At one point during his absence, the Mavs went on a 3-10 SU/ATS run. As of January 25, the Mavs had won back to back games for the first time in nearly a month, but they’ve continued to struggle against the pointspread with only 4 ATS covers in their last 15 games. Their best victory in recent weeks was a 109-100 home win over the Los Angeles Lakers on January 19th with the Mavericks cashing tickets for NBA betting enthusiasts as +3 home underdogs. In the past couple of years, Dallas has been a poor pointspread investment on their home court and the number could once again come into play in this matchup. They'll catch a break in terms of scheduling, as Atlanta will have a home game against the New York Knicks the previous night. For all of their inconsistent ways, Atlanta has been a very solid road team this year and even with Nowitski back in the lineup could pose countless matchup problems for the Mavs with their deep and athletic roster. We’ll look for the Hawks to steal the outright win.
