The Atlanta Hawks Look To Prey on The Portland BlazersIn the NBA, the main goal is to make the second season and enter the playoffs. Then anything can happen as teams make a run for the championship. The Hawks swung a deal for Mike Bibby at the trade deadline in 2008, and Bibby helped guide the Hawks to the playoffs in each of his three seasons as the starting point guard. But it was clear that Bibby's time had passed, and the Hawks finally made a move to replace him by completing a deal to bring Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong from Washington in exchange for Bibby, Mo Evans, rookie guard Jordan Crawford and a future draft pick. The Hawks made no bones about their desire to upgrade at point guard, hunting around all season for someone to replace Mike Bibby. The Hawks think this move will make the difference. The Blazers made some changes as well.

Portland sent two first-round draft picks to Charlotte, along with reserve forward Dante Cunningham and center Joel Przybilla.

Wallace, who is 6-foot-7, was averaging 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds through 48 games for Charlotte this season. He has scored 20 or more points in three of his past five games. Cunningham is scoring 5.1 points in 19.8 minutes per game this season. Przybilla, who has been slowed by injuries, is averaging 1.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 14.4 minutes.

The Blazers have made the better move and the results will pay dividends almost immediately. The Blazers need to win on the homestand and will defeat the Hawks with ease.
