The Portland Blazers Host a Slumping Charlotte Bobcats Team
The Portland Blazers Host a Slumping Charlotte Bobcats TeamThe Charlotte Bobcats had a good run when Paul Silas took over as head coach, but lately they have had some very ugly loses. They will look to get back into the win column when they travel to Portland to take on the Blazers.

The Bobcats have been a team in flux since the trading deadline. The Bobcats had to cut three players last week to make the two trade-deadline deals involving Gerald Wallace and Nazr Mohammed. Even if the Bobcats didn't intend to keep all the players they acquired, they had to create roster spots for them. So Brown, McGuire and Sherron Collins were all waived.

The change has translated into embarrassing loses. The team was recently trounced by the Denver Nuggets. This was their worst margin of defeat ever, and they deserved it. The Bobcats gave up 52 points in the paint and 61 percent shooting for the game. Their pick-and-roll defense has become a joke and that won't change until they start trusting each other enough to rotate aggressively.

The Bobcats hope to start practicing Tyrus Thomas for the first time since he was diagnosed with torn knee cartilage in mid-January. The plan is for Thomas to start playing about a week after practicing. The Bobcats' shot-blocking has plummeted since Thomas went out. The Trail Blazers will see a couple of familiar faces when they play host to the Charlotte Bobcats Saturday night at the Rose Garden.

Former Blazers Joel Przybilla and Dante Cunningham -- sent to Charlotte in the trade that brought Gerald Wallace to Portland last week -- will be in uniform for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 against the NBA Northwest and the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings. The Bobcats are in a freefall and will not recover against the Blazers in this game.
