| Bucks Continue Quest For NBA Playoffs Against Cavs |
The Bucks have had some injury issues this year—Andrew Bogut has missed a few games lately (check status)—but the team has markedly regressed especially on the offensive end. Milwaukee still has a top five defensive team allowing 93.0 points per game but their problem is putting the ball in the basket. Their currently dead last in scoring offense putting up only 91.4 points per game and despite their impressive defensive numbers scoring fewer points than you allow never works out well. Heading into weekend action the Bucks have lost 11 of 15 games straight up going 5-10 against the spread. Not surprisingly, they’ve played a lot of games UNDER the total in that stretch (11 UN, 3 OV, 1 push). Cleveland’s struggles this year have been well documented—they broke the NBA record for most consecutive losses but to their credit have continued to play hard despite an unprecedented run of injuries. They’ve only one four games since their streak ended but in that timeframe have beaten the New York Knicks (twice) and Los Angeles Lakers. They’ve also become a very profitable pointspread investment—in their last 15 games they’ve gone 10-4-1 against the spread. The Cavs got a big boost recently with the addition of veteran pointguard Baron Davis who was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline. This is a game the Bucks need to win—they’re currently three games out of the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference—as well as one they *should* win. The problem is that they’ve had many games of this type this season and haven’t won them. They’ve been a losing pointspread proposition at home (and have gone UNDER in 22 of 30 home games) and we’re concerned about the scheduling situation—they play a home game against Boston, fly out for a ‘one off’ road game at Washington (another game they *should* win) and will then return for this game at home the following night. Ultimately, we’ve been very impressed with the way that head coach Byron Scott has kept the Cavs competing this year despite all of the injuries and as the losses have piled up. The addition of Baron Davis has given the team a spark and they’ve been an excellent pointspread investment down the stretch. The reason for this is that bettors often see the Cavs name on the board and blindly bet against them thinking they’ll roll over. Instead they’ve been playing hard and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bucks look past this feisty Cleveland team and lose outright. We’ll take the points with the Cavs and look UNDER the total.

Arguably the most disappointing team in the NBA will be in action on Wednesday night—and it’s not the
