Louisville Cardinals Battles The Notre Dame Fighting Irish in The Big East TournamentThe Big East tournament has been filled with exciting games and last minute buzzer beaters as underdogs are upsetting some of the best teams in the country. Louisville finished off Marquette to get to this point. Louisville was unselfish on offense, a trait reflected in the box score. It finished the Marquette game with 24 assists on its 30 made baskets.

Coach Rick Pitino made it sound like revenge will be on the mind of the Cardinals when Louisville meets Notre Dame on Friday. The primary focus will be on limiting the opportunities senior guard Ben Hansbrough has after he carved up Cincinnati on Thursday. Pitino sees some similarity between Hansbrough and former Pitino prodigy Billy Donovan. Despite its high seed in the nation’s toughest conference, the Cardinals still feel disrespected and overlooked. Coach Rick Pitino will be looking to open some more eyes at Madison Square Garden, to improve the Cardinals’ NCAA Tournament seed and to get his team ready for the Big Dance.

Notre Dame demolished Cincinnati to get to this game against the Cardinals. Notre Dame certainly hit a high note against Cincinnati. Its 38-point margin of victory was the second-largest in Big East tourney history behind Syracuse’s 41-point win in a 96-55 rout of Boston College in 1999.

Notre Dame played perhaps its best all-round game of the season in winning for the 12th time in its last 13 game. The Fighting Irish shot 56.1 percent from the field, committed a season-low five turnovers and held Cincinnati to 32.8 percent shooting. The trends favor the Cardinals for this game.

The Cardinals are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win and 6-0 ATS in the last six games against the Big East.

Notre Dame will be hard pressed to continue that pace against the disrespected Cardinals looking for revenge.
