| The No. 12 VCU Rams Fight Against The No. 12 USC Trojans in March Madness |
BetPhoenix is the best online sportsbook to wager on the College Basketball and they have the latest odds on this and all other games on the schedule. The Trojans will face Virginia Commonwealth of the Colonial Athletic Association on Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio, in one of the “First Four” play-in games. The winner will become the No. 11 seed and play No. 6 Georgetown on Friday in Chicago. The Trojans have had problems of late with winning basketball games. They lost in the Pac-10 tournament and had their head coach, Kevin O’Neil punished by the Pac-10 for a verbal confrontation with a fan. Now their biggest problem is dealing with the quickness of the VCU rams. Because the Trojans have such a short bench—only six players average more than 11 minutes—they must stay healthy and they must stay out of foul trouble. Despite their personnel challenges, the Trojans don’t seem susceptible to fatigue. Their 1-2 inside punch of Nikola Vucevic and Alex Stepheson poses a difficult matchup at both ends of the floor for most opponents. USC is a subpar free-throw shooting club, converting just 65.3 percent. The Trojans are a streaky 3-point shooting team, and because of their inside presence, they can be very difficult to defend when the perimeter guys are feeling it. While the Trojans have size, they lack the other tools they need to win this game such as free throw shooting and speed. SC’s biggest defensive challenge will be Jamie Skeen, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound senior forward who averages 15.3 points and 7.5 rebounds. The Trojans have the size to win and need to keep this game at a slow pace. They are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight non-conference games. The Trojans get the win and the cover in a closely contested game. Play on USC Tags:
