Some observers are questioning Bucks coach Scott Skiles' decision to play Michael Redd and Drew Gooden for significant minutes against the Bobcats on Monday night. With the Bucks in a three-team race with the Pacers and Bobcats for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race, Skiles opted to use Redd and Gooden even though both veterans hadn't played recently.

In Redd's case, he hadn't played since January of 2010 because of ACL and MCL surgeries. In Gooden's case, he hadn't played since Jan. 21 because of plantar fasciitis. But Skiles called on both players early in the game and both players struggled mightily on offense.Redd played 15 minutes and missed all three of his shots; Gooden played 17 minutes and went 1-for-6 from the field. In other words, Redd and Gooden were a combined 1-for-9 from the field. It shows just how desperate this team is.

The Pacers took a significant step in avoiding their self-proclaimed label of being a bi-polar team when they beat the Pistons 48 hours after knocking off the Celtics.

The Pacers have stepped their game up against teams like Boston, the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami this season. Its losses to teams like Toronto, Minnesota and Sacramento that have been disappointing.

The Bucks are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 Friday games and they need this win to stay in the playoff hunt. The Pacers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win and the playoff chase gets closer in the Eastern Conference.
