Kentucky vs. UConn in the NCAA Tournament Final Four
Kentucky vs. UConn in the NCAA Tournament Final FourThe UConn Huskies and the Kentucky Wildcats feel as though they can win the NCAA Tournament with the other two teams in the Final Four being considered underdogs. That makes this game a variable championship game between two great college basketball teams.

When the Huskies entered the Big East tournament, they were coming off a stretch of four losses in five games. It was hard for anyone to look at that squad, which finished in a three-way tie for ninth place in the 16-team Big East, and envision it would reach the Final Four as the only one of the league’s 11 NCAA Tournament teams to make it out of the regional semifinals.

It faded so fast, in fact, that it did not earn a bye in the conference tournament, and faced a first-round matchup with DePaul. To win the title, it would have to knock off the Blue Demons, and then win four more games in as many days. Of course, that’s exactly what happened. Now they will look to continue that winning streak against Kentucky and win a national championship.

This isn’t the Wildcat team that was such a juggernaut in the regular season a year ago, but it’s not only talented enough to get this far, it plays with no fear. Freshman point guard Brandon Knight is the leading scorer, and will keep shooting even if he gets off to a slow start. On the inside, Alex Oriakhi and Charles Okwandu will be challenged to keep Josh Harrellson—whose built like a defensive tackle—off the offensive glass, as he’s been the king of securing second shots when the trigger-happy guards grow cold.

This is largely a strength-vs.-strength matchup, so it should be fun to watch. Connecticut and Kentucky prefer an aggressive man-to-man defense and rely on their guards to lead the offense. It’s going to come down to which team shoots the ball better from the outside, and which squad hits the glass the hardest for second-chance points when those initial efforts miss.

The Huskies are 26-9 ATS in their last 35 games following a win and they beat the Wildcats and advance to play in the National Championship.
