The Phoenix Suns Play for Pride against the San Antonio Spurs
The Phoenix Suns Play for Pride against the San Antonio SpursThe San Antonio Spurs are one of the best teams in the NBA and they are going to the playoffs. The Phoenix Suns are a team filled with talent, yet this year they will not be going to the NBA post season. In the game on national television all they have left to play for is pride.

Another night mired in double-digits. Another fourth-quarter meltdown. Another back-to-back with nothing left in the tank for the second round. The only good news? Another game closer to the end of the season.

Now back to two games under .500 with a real possibility of staying there for the duration, the Suns have lost four in a row for the second time in March and the third time this season. With a solid chance to overtake Memphis for the last playoff spot with a decent stretch run, the Suns have lost 11 of the last 16 games and looked even worse than that record indicates.

Playing a team headed in exactly the opposite direction -- the Thunder have won 11 of 12 and are heading to the postseason with a head of steam -- only made more obvious that the Suns don't belong with that group.

Phoenix's frustrations were evident against the Thunder. Steve Nash (eight points, nine assists and four turnovers in 31 minutes) and Vince Carter picked up technical fouls before Zabian Dowdell and Aaron Brooks were ejected in the final minute by referee Ken Mauer.

For the first time in several weeks, and since he lost his starting job for poor play, Vince Carter made a positive impact for the Suns. Carter scored 16 first-half points en route to a game-high 28 points off the bench—his first double-digit scoring effort as a Suns reserve, his most points overall since March 8 against Houston.

Playing under pressure with their playoff hopes on the line, the Suns upset the Spurs.
