The Celtics limped into the playoffs, but they did this a year ago. However this year seems different. Although Rondo disintegrated on the court, the Cs stars lost their mojo, and Shaq frustratingly remained off of the court (even after he got back on it), there are reasons to be hopeful. Other than a phenomenal night from the promising young Avery Bradley, who scored a game-leading 20 points, the game absolutely proved that the second team has what it takes for the playoffs. Speaking of the Knicks, even their own fans should realize that they can't exactly bank on a solid defense going into the first round series. While Mike D'Antoni deserves credit for taking the team to its best season in a decade, his defense has consistently failed on every level. Despite the likes of Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) and Carmelo Anthony(notes), the Knicks just don't have it takes to survive. Finally, the Cs' stars will be starting Sunday's match refreshed after an entire week of rest. The potential that time has to reinvigorate the team shouldn't be taken lightly. Doc's decision arguably gives the big four a major advantage, and it also gives Rondo one last chance to work things out and find his spark again. Jermaine O'Neal, Delonte West, and Shaq will also be coming into the playoffs refreshed, meaning that the Knicks will be facing a team that's fully recharged and ready to win the Championship.
