The Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Series Preview: New Big Three vs. Old Big Three
The Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Series Preview: New Big Three vs. Old Big ThreeThe most anticipated series in the second round of the playoffs is the Boston Celtics vs. the Miami Heat. The game is being touted as the new Big three against the Old Big three, as both teams attempt to win the Eastern Conference.

The Miami Heat has arguably the best player in basketball in LeBron James. James comes into this series looking for revenge. The Celtics ousted the James in the playoffs last year and he came under scrutiny as he was accused of quitting on his team.

The Celtics won the series 3-1 but this is a much different battle then it was during the regular season. Kendrick Perkins is no longer a member of the Boston Celtics, but it should be known that Perkins only played in one game during the regular season. Throw out the regular season records, the playoffs will be completely different.

Miami is a much different team because they have come together as a unit and are playing well together. The Heat have the talent, but will have to figure out how to execute late in the game against an experienced Celtics team.

Doc Rivers will have plenty of time to get his team ready for the series as they swept the New York Knicks. Since it took Miami five games to eliminate the Sixers, the edge of rest will be with the Celtics. This may not play a big role once the series begins. If the Celtics play at home the way they did against the Knicks, the Heat could easily win on the road.

The two players to watch in this game for either side may be Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade.

Rondo is what makes the Celtics tick. He distubutes the ball perfectly, but needs to drive to the rim and be able to bury the open jumper if he has any hopes of making an impact on this series. He averaged just 7.5 points on 37 percent shooting with 12 assists per game in the regular season, but always steps up his game in the playoffs.

Wade has to step his game in the playoffs because he could be the difference between winning and losing the series. Wade’s numbers against Boston have been awful and he has problems finding his shots against the impressive defense of the Celtics. His best game against the Celtics all season was when he shot 6-17 from the field and managed to score 16 points. If those numbers don’t improve in this series, the Heat could be looking at a second round exit.

Shaquille O'Neal could also make this series a bit more interesting, as the Celtics front office is confident that he will play a game (or more) in the series. Neither team has a dominant big man and will be without one in the series. Although both teams have workable players that can play in the center position, none of them would match up to Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq would love to suit up in a series that has plenty of hype and against his former team. Even if he is not at 100% and does not play many minutes, Shaq could be another difference maker in this game.

Series prediction: The Celtics need to win and defend home games and any loss in Boston would be devastating to their hopes of returning to the finals. The Heat has to get production from the Big Three and make the right plays late in the game.

The Old Big three will prevail in a very close series as Miami loses in six games.
