| The Oklahoma City Thunder are in must win mode against the Memphis Grizzlies |
In the last game, Oklahoma City was outscored 23-10 in the fourth quarter and eventually lost in overtime in Game 3, letting a game it had under control slip away. The Thunder shot just 37 percent, with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook going a combined 17 of 46 from the floor. Zach Randolph also took apart OKC inside with 21 points and 21 rebounds. Regaining the home-court advantage seemed inevitable for the Thunder for most of Game 3. A double-digit lead that stretched to 16 points midway through the third quarter should have been enough to erase the slipup in Game 1. But the Grizzlies did what they've done throughout these playoffs -- refuse to give up. Oklahoma City turned one-dimensional and passive when it mattered most. Too many Thunder possessions were marked by excessive dribbling by Russell Westbrook and long, contested jumpers late in the shot clock. Defensively, OKC was on its heels, repeatedly getting beat and surrendering easy baskets at the rim. OKC can still leave Memphis with the home-court edge by winning Monday night at what promises to be a raucous FedEx Forum. Game 5 is back in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. As important as winning Game 3 would have been to the Thunder, losing isn't the end of the world. Oklahoma City didn't view it as a must-win since a split in Memphis regains homecourt. That makes this game a must win and the Thunder will answer the call and retain home court in the NBA Playoffs.
