| NBA Draft Trades: 10 Big Names That Can Be Dealt On Draft Day |
Anything can happen on draft day and big names could switch teams if the price is right. This year there seems to be bigger names than usual being floated around by NBA General Managers, trying to get a feel for the market. Most GM’s will deny they are trying to trade a key player to try and save face if the offer is refused. Here are ten big names that could be traded on Draft Day Milwaukee Bucks, Andrew Bogut The Milwaukee Bucks are rumored to be enthralled with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. The Minnesota Timberwolves are listening to all offers and have reportedly asked about the availability of Bucks big man, Andrew Bogut. Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN had confirmed that multiple sources acknowledged the Bucks offered Bogut in a package deal for the No. 2 pick. Soon after the report, Bucks general manager John Hammond announced there was no truth to the report. The Wolves are very active on draft day and if the Bucks could get the second overall pick by moving Bogut it may be something they consider. Boston Celtics, Rajon Rondo If you think that the “Big 4” in Boston is untouchable, think again. General Manager Danny Ainge is known for his bold moves and the Celtic’s window to get a championship is closing fast. Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated tweeted this Tuesday night: "I think Rondo is available for the right (big) offer." Ainge has had Rondo and nearly every other Celtic on the table at one time or another. Ainge is not afraid to make a controversial move if he believes it will benefit the Celtics in the future. Keep an eye on the Celtics on draft day. Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Love Minnesota has been one of the most active teams in the rumor mill leading up to the draft. The most recent rumor had Minnesota shipping off Kevin Love to team up with Kobe. Timberwolves GM David Kahn has made some questionable moves in the past, but this move would certainly alienate him from the entire fan base. The Wolves finally have a face of the franchise that they can build around; trading him would be a huge mistake. The potential partners would have been the Lakers who are also making some news leading up to draft day. Los Angeles Lakers Pau Gasol Pau Gasol has won a championship with the Lakers, but there is some speculation that Gasol is not getting along with his teammates in LA., specifically Kobe Bryant. The story may be pure speculation but the Lakers are listening to offers for Gasol. Eric Pincus of HOOPSWORLD has reported that the Lakers would like to get some young talent, even if that meant they were to part ways with Gasol. Does that mean there are other pieces, the Lakers would consider moving? Los Angele Lakers, Andrew Bynum Andrew Bynum has always been the subject of LA and those rumors are swirling once again. Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick reports that Kahn is very interested in getting Bynum and would package Michael Beasley and the second round pick to the Lakers. While this most likely won’t happen, it does mean the Lakers are listening and may be open to offers. Orlando Magic, Dwight Howard Dwight Howard is one of the biggest names that could be shipped on draft day. While a move is highly unlikely at this time, the rumors are flying and include some of the biggest names in basketball. Magic GM Otis Smith would rather trade to bring a player in to team up with Howard, but may also ship the superstar out of the Magic Kingdom if the price is right. The most popular rumor has Dwight Howard to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum and draft picks. The Magic don’t want Howard to walk without compensation, so a draft day move is possible. Atlanta Hawks, Josh Smith If the Orlando Magic does decide to add a player to help Dwight Howard, Josh Smith could be that addition. The Atlanta Hawks are openly shopping Smith and listening to offers. Smith has said that he does not want to be traded but as named Houston, Boston, New Jersey, and Orlando has places he would like to land. Ken Berger of CBS Sports has indicated that the Magic are interested. Smith and Howard are childhood friends so a reunion may be enough to satisy Howard and convince him to stay. Philadelphia Sixers, Andre Iguodala Another popular rumor that keeps resurfacing as the draft approaches is the Sixers willingness to part with Andre Iguodala. Sixers president Rod Thorn admitted to listening to trade offers but did not specifically discuss and potential deals that could take place. Iguodala has been connected to the Lakers in several rumors that included Lamar Odom and Ron Artest. Nothing has begun to materialize but on draft day the Sixers could be a team that is ready to deal. San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker In recent days, the San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of the rumor mill. The latest rumors have the Spurs shopping point guard Tony Parker. While a move seems unlikely, the Spurs have some flexibility with the emergence of Greg Hill, who could move to the point. The Sacramento Kings would be the most likely trading partner giving their No. 7 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and Omri Casspi. The Spurs would add Richard Jefferson in the deal, but the Spurs (of course) have denied these rumors. Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash No one seems immune to the draft day trade rumor mill, to include Steve Nash, who is a staple of the Phoenix Suns organization. ESPN.com's Marc Stein and Chad Ford reported that Minnesota would give up the No. 2 pick to get Nash, but that deal would not work unless Nash is willing to sign a deal with Minnesota. Other possible destinations are out there, but Suns president Larry Babby told the Arizona Republic the Suns will not be trading Nash. The Suns have to consider trading Nash since they are not getting any younger and there is a good chance he could leave as a free agent after this year. Although the draft may be thin this year, the trades could make for some exciting moments.
