New York allowed 50 second-half points, was outscored 46-22 in the paint and outrebounded 36-28. “We kind of gave the game away in the second half,” said Cappie Pondexter, who scored 24 points for her fifth straight game with at least 20. “We didn’t execute when we needed to and we turned the ball over in many situations, so there were many little things that we learned from tonight.” New York might have an easier time inside against San Antonio, which is giving up a league-worst 39.0 boards per game. The Liberty lost their first two home games, but picked up a victory over Los Angeles on June 26. New York, which is averaging 71.7 points at home compared to 85.3 on the road, has won its last two at home against the Silver Stars and three straight overall between the two. The teams are idle after this game until facing each other in San Antonio next Friday. In this crucial game the Liberty will be the team to beat and will get the victory.
