| UFC Main Event: Chris Lytle vs. Dan Hardy |
Dan Hardy (23-9 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Chris Lytle (30-18-5 MMA, 9-10 UFC), who both are coming off losses, have agreed to meet at the upcoming event and it will be the main event. UFC on Versus 5 takes place Aug. 14, and the event now is set for the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The night's main card, including Hardy vs. Lytle, airs live on Versus. The event likely is a final shot for Hardy, a once-high-flying 170-pound knockout artist who won his first four UFC fights. However, he then dropped a lopsided decision to champion Georges St-Pierre in a UFC 111 title fight. The British fighter's problems compounded with a knockout loss to Carlos Condit (UFC 120) and a decision defeat to Anthony Johnson (UFC Fight Night 24). Lytle, a longtime UFC fighter who posted a runner-up finish on the comeback fourth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," saw a career resurgence in 2010. The former pro boxer and Indianapolis firefighter strung together a four-fight win streak with victories over Kevin Burns, Brian Foster, Matt Brown and ex-champ Matt Serra. But back in February, he was upset by little-known (but underrated) veteran Brian Ebersole at UFC 127. The main event in Milwaukee will be a throw-down, drag-out battle between two veterans in the UFC welterweight division. Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy brings his English-born attitude, red striped hair, and thunderous punches inside the Octagon against Chris "Lights Out" Lytle, who has never lost by submission or knockout in 53 professional fights. Hardy, a gifted striker with good hand speed, powerful punches, and a confidence in his stand-up game will need to execute a solid game-plan against the resiliency and tenacity of Lytle. Looking to rebound from three successive defeats inside the Octagon, "The Outlaw" needs a decisive victory over "Lights Out" to not only remains employed by the UFC but to once again climb the welterweight ladder and challenge for the title. Perhaps the most over-looked and potentially unappreciated competitor within the division, Lytle brings his no holds barred attitude in to the Octagon for each fight. Out of a stacked card for this weekend this fight deserves the spotlight. The online sportsbook BetPhoenix will have all of the wagering odds for this event.
