| MMA Betting Preview: Evan Dunham vs. Nik Lentz |
The best place to bet on MMA is Bet Phoenix as they have all of the odds on all of the big MMA fights for the busy weekend. The UFC deal with Fox is now in full swing as FX and Fuel TV have been actively broadcasting UFC events and programming since January 1. The next step in the plan is the second event to be broadcast in prime time on Fox. The event will take place at the United Center in Chicago. The inaugural event in November featured the UFC Heavyweight title bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, but only broadcast one bout. This time Fox will have three high level bouts aired beginning at 8:00 PM eastern time. The main event will be a light heavyweight showdown between former champion Rashad Evans and undefeated contender Phil Davis. The preliminary card features a host of UFC veterans along with a number of newcomers looking to make waves in their Octagon debuts. The eight bout preliminary card will be broadcast on Fuel TV beginning at 5:00PM eastern. UFC veterans Evan Dunham and Nik Lentz will meet in a pivotal bout in the lightweight division. Let’s take a look at the participants and offer a prediction on which fighter will earn the victory. Dunham was an undefeated rising contender before being derailed by losses to Sean Sherk and Melvin Guillard. The Oregon native snapped that two fight losing streak with a one-sided unanimous decision win over Shamar Bailey at UFC Fight Night 25 in September. This will be the eighth Octagon appearance for the Xtreme Couture trained Dunham. Lentz is a tough grappler with six TKOs and nine submissions on his MMA resume. Lentz suffered his first UFC loss in December when he dropped a unanimous decision to Mark Bocek at UFC 140 in December. Prior to the loss, the Minnesota native had gone 11-0-1 with one no contest in his past 13 bouts. This bout will likely have a heavy dose of grappling as both fighters like the fight on the mat and possess serious wrestling and jiu-jitsu skills. The tough grapplers should negate each other on the ground as both will have positive moments so this fight will likely be decided by which fighter can do more damage in the stand-up game. Dunham has shown to be a much better striker than Lentz during their UFC tenures as Lentz simply wants to strike just enough to get inside for a takedown. Look for the ground action to be close with Lentz getting a little bit the better in the wrestling and Dunham scoring more on the feet. The judges tend to like the striking more so Dunham takes the close by unanimous decision.
