Canelo is here to stay
Canelo is here to staySaúl “El Canelo” Álvarez is a teenager from Guadalajara, México that is the talk of the town; a Junior Welter Weight with a record of 32-0-1 with 25 straight wins since the last and only draw. He recently stopped Cotto in the 9th round in his debut in Mecca boxing capital Las Vegas, Nevada this last may 1st.

Mexico is delivering another champion and this kid has all the right stuff to make him the biggest name in history of boxing, not just the biggest name in Mexico but in the entire world. Alvarez possesses a great physical condition, great resistance, speed and a powerful blow that will make any opponent think about it twice before they get to close again. When it comes to popularity he is a heavy weight, with his red hair and freckle faced he is loved by everyone around him.

One very important thing about Alvarez is that he does not need cherry picked fights, he has everything a boxer needs to go out there and do his job, and he does not need physiological warfare to weaken his opponent prior to the fight. I spoke to many close friends and media collaborators and the majority commented that he was too young to pursue major bouts however I totally disagree and Alvarez proved that he is comfortable in the ring and he is ready to take on anyone as he did with Cotto.

This last fight against Cotto started a little rough in the first round for Alvarez, however he shook it off and started doing his thing, dropped Cotto on the second round yet Cotto had the drive to get up and kept on fighting. After the first round Alvarez started pounding Cotto at will and in the ninth round Tweak had to put an end to it. It was an amazing display of endurance by Cotto who sponged everything Alvarez sent his way but refused to go down, it was like he had a death wish. This performance was also a message to Mayweather, Mosley and the Pacman, telling them that he is coming for them and I truly believe that he can drop them fast and hard.

Mayweather could not drop Mosley even though he is rusty and slow, 38 in the boxing world are too many. Mosley did not have the speed and accuracy to do any damage to Mayweather and this was evident with 92 landed out of 452. Manny perhaps will be the only opponent out of the three that may survive a bout with Alvarez; he has the speed and mobility in the ring aside from the intelligence to avoid getting to close to Alvarez.

In the next few weeks we will know who will face Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez and who ever may be, my money will be on Saul.
