Sportsbooks have placed the Jets as 2 point favorites with an over under of 33 ½. The Jets are coming into this season as one of the most hyped teams in the NFL. They are the featured team on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” this season, and they are always in the news with their best player, Darrelle Revis, holding out. The Jets quarterback rotation will be Mark Sanchez, Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge, and Kevin O’Connell. The Giants may not get as much hype as the Jets, but they are still one of the best teams in the NFL. On offense, the Giants quarterback rotation will be Eli Manning, Jim Sorgi, and Rhett Bomar. On defense the Giants look for a drastic change after revamping a unit that struggled last year. Perry Fewell was brought in as the team’s new defensive coordinator. First-round defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (South Florida) and the occasionally dissatisfied Osi Umenyiora will keep up front pressure. The linebacker section is shored up by the likes of fourth-round rookie Phillip Dillard (Nebraska) and veteran acquisition Keith Bulluck (ex-Titans) and will all see playing time Monday night. This game is a battle for bragging rights in the Big Apple, but also has special meaning since it is the opening of the new Meadowlands Stadium. The stadium cost $1.6 billion to build and seats 82,556 fans. This stadium will inevitably be the best one in the NFL this year with all of the glitz and glamour that is associated with it. Preseason NFL Pick: This game is not your ordinary preseason game because in New York, everything is bigger. The game is on national television, in a brand new stadium, and the winner can boast being the best in New York. Don’t look for the starters to play too long in this game, as both head coaches have already made it clear that the starters will only be in for one or two possessions. The Jets may have more hype, but in this game it’s the Giants that will prevail when the game is complete. They have depth in several key positions and will put their defensive unit to the test.
