| NFL Preseason: New York Giants vs. New England Patriots |
The latest line posted by sportsbooks have the Giants as a 3 point favorites with a total of 37 ½. The fourth game of the preseason is often meaningless to most of the starting lineup. The game is usually reserved for teams to review the younger plays one last time before making their final cuts. IN this game many of the starters on either side won’t play a snap as they prepare for the regular season. The NFL realizes that this game is not very significant and will use it as a testing ground for new technologies that will possibly change the game. For instance, this will be the first time any NFL game has ever been televised in 3D. All you need is a 3D television set, 3D glasses and high definition set-top box to view the Patriots-Giants game in 3D. While many households have yet to purchase the very expensive equipment to view the game, this is breakthrough technology that could change how we watch the game in the future. On the field the Giants are still looking for someone to step up and take the kick returner spot after the injury suffered by Domenik Hixon. The Giants will need to trim the roster to 53 players by the end of this week and this will be the last chance for young players to showcase their talent. The Patriots enter this game off a miserable performance against the Rams. The defense was exploited and the team was ripped to shreds in almost every aspect. The coaching staff is still trying to figure out roster spots, especially at the running back position. Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk, Fred Taylor and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are all battling for positioning in a crowded Patriots’ backfield. Preseason NFL Pick The Giants are struggling through injuries and don’t care about winning in the preseason. Eli Manning said that there is a clear difference in a player’s mind between a preseason game and a regular season game, but added that preparation needs to be similar. The Giants won’t even prepare for this one and instead much of the focus will be on week one. Head Coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots on the other hand, hate to lose, even in the preseason. After last week’s game the Patriots will want to win this game and enter the regular season on a winning note. The team was embarrassed especially on defense so look for an inspired effort to end the season. Play on: Patriots +3 By Matt Regaw
