| Cowboys’ Rookie Dez Bryant Says He’s Ready To Play |
Bryant isn’t expected to get the start at wide receiver, where the Cowboys have good depth with Miles Austin and Roy Williams. He is expected to handle kick return duties and may see additional playing time on offense in certain formations. For his part, he’s just anxious to get back in the game: "It's crazy, that's all I can say. I'm just ready to get back on the field and play, because it has been a long time. I just feel like I'm just ready to unleash." Cowboys’ coach Wade Phillips expects big things out of the team’s top 2010 draft pick: "I don't think you can get around it once you seen him practice and move and do the things he can do. I think he's going to do well. You treat him like any other player [but] he's a good player, I think we said that about Miles Austin for a while and it didn't happen until this last year. But [Bryant] has those kinds of abilities, we can see that." Wide receivers coach Ray Sherman said that the important thing for Bryant is playing under control: "The main thing is that I have to keep him calm. He's excited and biting at the bit to have a chance to play. It's different. It's not preseason. This is for real. This is live bullets coming at you, so you've got to be ready to adapt. Once he gets that first catch or that first hit, it will help him settle down." Bryant says that mentally he’s well prepared for his first regular season action: "Just going out doing my best, that's about it. I got the playbook down and I just feel like this is it and I have to go out and just play." Dallas opens the season on the road against their hated rivals the Washington Redskins, where new coach Mike Shanahan and new starting quarterback Donovan McNabb will be making their regular season debut. The Cowboys are a -3’ point NFL betting favorite, with the total set at 40’.

Dallas Cowboy’s rookie Dez Bryant hasn’t played in a football in over year due to an injury suffered before his team’s first preseason contest. Bryant showed significant promise during training camp, and both he and the team are anxious to see him in NFL game conditions. The Cowboys got some good news on Wednesday as Bryant said his ankle is back to 100% and he’s ready to play. He’ll get his first taste of pro football competition on Sunday night as the Cowboys open the 2010 regular season on the road against the Washington Redskins.
