| Thursday Night College Football Preview: NC State vs. Cincinnati Bearcats |
Betting on college football is easy at BetPhoenix and they have great customer service and bonuses for the college football season. The Wolfpack defeated sub division South Alabama 35-13 in week two while the Bearcats crushed Akron by a 59-14 count. The Wolfpack and Jaguars were close for 30 minutes but at the final gun NCSU simply had too many weapons on both sides of the ball. It still wasn’t a real strong performance by the offense who totaled 392 yards and were just 5 of 19 on third down. Overall it was a good news, bad news scenario for the Wolfpack offense as quarterback Mike Glennon had a near perfect night connecting with nine different receivers while throwing four touchdowns. The bad news was an inability for NC State to solve the front seven of the Rattlers with only 125 rushing yards. James Washington and Curtis Underwood combined for 104 yards on 26 carries for a very ordinary ground game. The Wolfpack also fumbled four times and lost three in a plain vanilla attack but that proved to be enough with the defense allowing only 286 yards and controlling the run and pass while forcing three turnovers. Cincinnati overwhelmed an outmanned Akron squad in a complete performance on both sides of the ball. The numbers for the Bearcats offense were not all that impressive with 342 total yards but didn’t have to be facing off against one of the poorer teams in the country. Zach Collaros was efficient in limited action with a scoring toss but Cincinnati kept the ball on the ground in an effort to keep the clock running and not embarrass the Zips who trailed 49-0 entering the half. The Bearcats ran 45 times for 164 yards in a three yards and a cloud of dust type of attack but ten players ran the ball but it mattered little with the defense either scoring off of turnovers or setting up a short field for their counterparts on offense. The D forced six turnovers and returned a fumble and a pair of interceptions for touchdowns. Akron totaled 349 yards but did not score until the fourth quarter when Cincinnati had called it a day. Both of these teams have yet to face tough opponents so this will be a good challenge as both teams kick off the season with a nationally televised game.
