| Sunday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts |
It’s no surprise that the Colts would struggle without Peyton Manning, but no one thought it would be this bad. The Steelers on the other hand are fully stocked and ready to go. After getting drubbed in their season opener against their division rivals from Baltimore the Pittsburgh Steelers responded last week by shutting out the seattle Seahawks with a 24-0 score re-establishing the Steelers as a contender in the AFC. Ben Roethlisberger took a number of hits and bumps but led his Steelers to victory with a solid outing throwing 22-for-30 for 298 yards and a score but more importantly committed zero turnover after giving the ball away 7 times the week before. Mike Wallace had a great game through the air notching 126 yards and a touchdown and Rashard Mendenhall came back to life rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers walked all over the Seahawks in Pittsburgh. The Colts meanwhile, look hopeless. Houston has always played Indy tough and without Manning they were 10-point road dogs for good reason but they didn't even show up against the Texans and hence were wallpapered in their season opener. However the Colts returned home where they shine and were taking on a browns team who just lost their home opener to the Bengals of all teams and were still 3-point underdogs at home. So essentially the Colts have been waxed by their division rivals on the road and lost to the offensively inept Cleveland Browns at home by what should have been a 15-point margin. Wow. Indianapolis still has a number of huge playmakers on their roster but it appears as though they have packed it in mentally without Manning there to lead the way and there is no indication that the Colts are going to change their style any time soon. This game should not even be close as the Colts have yet to play with any pride. Perhaps the thought of playing on a national stage will bring them back to life against Pittsburgh, but it’s highly unlikely.
