| The Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets meet on Sunday night football |
All of the NFL Odds for this game and the entire week four NFL schedule can be found at online sportsbook BetPhoenix. Rex Ryan's Jets (2-1) come in off of their first loss of 2011, losing Sunday in Oakland to the Raiders, 34-24. RB Darren McFadden had a career game, exploding for 171 yards and two TDs, including a scintillating 70-yarder late in the first half that appeared to take the wind out of the Jets' sails. For the day, Oakland racked up 232 yards on the ground. The inability to contain the speedy McFadden doomed New York, as well as penalties. The Jets were whistled for 7 infractions for 61 yards. CB Antonio Cromartie, in particular, was a culprit, being flagged for 4 penalties alone, as well as fumbling a kickoff that Oakland recovered and scored soon afterward. No doubt the demanding Ryan will have his defense working on fundamentals this week in practice. Baltimore took out their frustration from the previous week's loss to the Tennessee Titans by going into St. Louis this past Sunday and completely manhandling the out-manned Rams, 37-7. The Raven offense, much-maligned early in the 2011 season, exploded for 406 first-half yards en route to a 27-0 cushion, then cruised after intermission and let their fearsome defense dominate. Rookie WR Torrey Smith laid a big hurting on St. Louis' secondary, hauling in 3 first-quarter TD passes from Joe Flacco. On the afternoon, Smith had 5 receptions for 152 yards. The swift rookie, however, suffered a second-half hamstring injury and his availability is questionable. The often-overwhelming Raven defense was hitting on every cylinder against St. Louis. Second-year Rams QB Sam Bradford was sacked five times, and his throws were frequently hurried, resulting in a paltry 16 for 32, good for 166 yards. About the only success St. Louis enjoyed offensively was the ground attack, running for 112 yards on 26 carries, led by veteran RB Cadillac Williams' 75 yards on 18 carries. All-Pro RB Steven Jackson, still at less than 100% due to an opening-game quadriceps injury, had just 4 carries for 23 yards and was never a factor. LB Ray Lewis was his usual ferocious self, recording a sack, 10 tackles and a strip on Bradford. His fellow linebackers also came up big, Jameel McLain and Terrell Suggs combining for 9 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for losses and 3 QB hits. The Ravens and Jets will provide hard-hitting entertainment for the die-hard football fan and end the week on a good note.
