The Jacksonville Jaguars Host the High-Flying New Orleans Saints

The Jacksonville Jaguars will start rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert as he heads off against one of the best offenses in the NFL, in the New Orleans Saints.

All of the NFL Odds for this game and the entire week four NFL schedule can be found at online sportsbook BetPhoenix.

New Orleans (2-1) survived a shootout this past Sunday with the Houston Texans, 40-33, led by QB Drew Brees (31 of 44, 370 yards, 3 TDs) bringing his offense from behind twice in the fourth quarter. The game developed late, with 37 points being scored by both teams combined in the final period, which began with Houston holding a 19-17 advantage. The Houston loss ended the Texans' hope of going 3-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Brees has been his usually explosive self through New Orleans' early season, throwing for 1,059 yards and nine touchdowns, directing an offense that's averaging 37.3 ppg. Brees 338 yards per game ranks 3rd league-wide, helped by Brees' ability to spread his passes around. On the season, he's completed passes to 10 different receivers, led by RB Darren Sproles 21 catches out of the backfield. Second-year TE Jimmy Graham has also been effective, latching onto 14 balls for 235 yards and two TDs, while WR Devery Henderson has been the favorite deep target of Brees, grabbing 12 passes, averaging 22 yards a completion and two TDs. New Orleans running game is still finding its' way, with rookie RB Mark Ingram and veteran Pierre Thomas splitting the majority of featured back opportunities. Ingram's first career TD provided the winning points versus Houston.

The Jacksonville Jaguars fell to Carolina 16-10 on Sunday, dropping them to 1-2 on the young season. Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert, making his first career start, did perhaps a little better than expected, connecting on 12 of 21 attempts for 139 yards and a TD. Jacksonville's offense, however, is atrocious, ranking dead last in passing yardage, and having tallied but 29 points in three games. RB Maurice Jones-Drew carried 24 times for 122 yards. Unfortunately, Jones-Drew was virtually the entire offense for the Jags, who desperately need to find some playmakers.

Defensively, Jacksonville played well enough to win, but either fatigue or coverage breakdown doomed them. DE Matt Roth's neck injury kept him out against Carolina, and his status is listed as day-to-day for the New Orleans game. The linebacking corps and secondary are, for the most part, Jacksonville's strength, with MLB Paul Posluszny and safeties Rasean Mathis and Dawan Landry leading the way.

The Jags want to take their game to the next level and if they can beat the Saints this Sunday they will be headed in the right direction.
