The New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals Fight in the Desert
The New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals Fight in the Desert

After a big win against the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants travel out west to play against the Arizona Cardinals.

All of the NFL Odds for this game and the entire week four NFL schedule can be found at online sportsbook BetPhoenix.

The NFC West is one of the most wide open divisions in the NFL. Last week, the Arizona Cardinals lost to the Seattle Seahawks 13-10. The Giants beat the Philadelphia Eagles 28-16. One of the reasons for Arizona's loss is the lack of a deep threat. Arizona must find a way to keep Fitzgerald open that Kolb was only able to throw to twice in the second half of the Seattle game. During the game Kolb was able to complete 25 of 39 passes for 252 yards resulting in one touchdown.

Arizona must learn to control the clock. This will require a better running game. Arizona must control the ball during more of the game. Offensive Coordinator Ken Whisenhunt must teach this team to control the clock as it has already cost the Cardinals two losses. With the wide open NFC West, these losses may really come back to haunt Arizona.

Against the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona was only able to convert on 21 percent of their third down conversions. A major problem was that Alfonso Smith was not able to reach the line of gain on three separate occasions. Smith must learn to do this or he may need to be replaced with Chester Taylor.

Arizona's look this year is completely new. The good news for the Cardinals is that the players are starting to understand what is required of them. The team must continue to learn to lay their egos aside and play together as a team.

The Giants have been hurt this year with injuries. Wide receiver Mario Manningham has missed several games with a concussion. In order to help this situation, the Giants have recently signed wide receiver Michael Clayton. They have placed Hixon on injured reserves. Also on the injured list has been defensive end Osi Umenyiora.

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has been on the hot seat this week. A former player has accused the coordinator of teaching players to fake injuries. So far, Fewell will neither confirm or deny the report. The NFL has issued a statement to all teams that if officials determine that teams instruct players to fake injuries they will be fine, suspended or loose draft choices. The Giants were accused of this in their game against the Rams.

Quarterback Eli Manning needs to settle down and play great ball. He has always been a little hot headed and this trait has continued this year. For the Giants to win this weekend against Arizona, Eli will have to be mentally tough. Last season the Giants were number one in takeaways.

This is a big game for a Cardinals team looking for consistency. Protecting home turf is always important in the NFL and the Giants will try to win on enemy soil.
