Two Winless Teams Meet when the Kansas City Chiefs Play the Minnesota Vikings
Two Winless Teams Meet when the Kansas City Chiefs Play the Minnesota Vikings

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings have yet to win on this season, but after Sunday one of the teams will finally get in the win column.

All of the NFL Odds for this game and the entire week four NFL schedule can be found at online sportsbook BetPhoenix.

For Kansas City, the 0-3 start really hurts. In a figurative sense, the Chiefs were coming off a 10-6 season in 2010 and an AFC West division title. Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs, the team was seen as on the rise after suffering through 10+ loss seasons the two previous years.

The Vikings are starting to ponder their own future as well. Minnesota blew a 20 point lead against Detroit on Sunday to blow their third straight halftime lead. Quarterback Donovan McNabb is still the starter for now, but how long until he gives way to Christian Ponder, the rookie first round pick of the 2011 draft? Vikings fans want the future to be now, but coach Leslie Frazier isn't ready to pull the plug just yet.

The key for the Vikings is to get Adrian Peterson the ball as many times as possible in the second half and take pressure of of McNabb. Peterson was vocal about his displeasure over not getting many touches in the second half of the last two games. The Chiefs won't be able to compete on offense if Minnesota can sustain drives and score points, so it will be imperative to get AP the ball on Sunday.

For the Chiefs, it will be on Matt Cassel to do what a quarterback does and lead his team. He was picked off by Eric Weddle late in the game against the Chargers last Sunday when his team could have possibly taken the lead. Kansas City lost that game 20-17 and Cassel took the heat for it.

Without a running game to take the pressure off, he is going to have to put the team on his back. How well he does that will speak volumes about the Chiefs chances to rebound this season. If he continues to falter, he could be looking at competing for his job with current Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck who is considered the sure fire number one pick in the draft.

Home field advantage should go to Kansas City, but Arrowhead Stadium has not been kind to the Chiefs lately. Not only did they lose their wildcard playoff game to Baltimore at home last year, but they were rocked 41-7 against Buffalo at home in week one. If Minnesota can take the crowd out of the game early, they should be able to have an easier time stealing a road win.

This game could be very close as these teams are equal on many levels and could turn out to be very entertaining.
