| The North Carolina Tar Heels Try and Cage the Louisville Cardinals |
The Louisville Cardinals travel to Chapel Hill to face the North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday. Two schools traditionally known for their basketball programs will look to shed that notion with a victory. Louisville lost last week to Marshall at home 17-13, evening their record at 2-2. North Carolina won on the road at East Carolina last week 35-20, improving their overall record to 4-1. Teddy Bridgewater got his first career collegiate start against Marshall and it showed. Bridgewater threw a crucial fourth quarter interception that set up Marshall's game winning touchdown. Louisville suffered their second loss to a non-automatic qualifying conference team, their first loss coming at the hands of Florida International. The Cardinals have struggled to find score points this season, averaging 18.8 points a game, and a FBS rank of 105th. And it won't get any easier for Louisville this week facing a strong North Carolina defense. North Carolina had one of its best team performances of the season against a pesky East Carolina team. Quarterback Bryn Renner threw for four touchdowns and Giovani Bernard added 146 rushing yards and a touchdown, leading the Tar Heels to a 35-20 victory. With Bernard's solid rushing performances this season, it has allowed Renner to be more comfortable and efficient for the Tar Heels. Louisville is 2-2 ATS and 1-3 ATS. North Carolina is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS. Louisville is 6-14 SU in its last 20 road games. North Carolina is 6-2 SU in its last eight home games. While the latest college football trends may be favoring the Tar Heels they are inconsistent on the year. If they are not focused on this game the Cardinals could swoop in and steal this victory.
