| The Denver Broncos Look To Shock the San Diego Chargers |

After last season's uncharacteristic slide, the 2011 version of the San Diego Chargers appear to be ready to reclaim their AFC West dominance. The Chargers improved to 3-1 and first place in their division with a 26-16 victory this past Sunday over the winless Miami Dolphins. QB Philip Rivers was sharp, hitting on 21 of 31 pass attempts for 307 yards and a touchdown in the game, which incidentally was San Diego's second consecutive game against a winless opponent. They defeated AFC West rival and defending champion Kansas City in Week 3. The Chargers thoroughly dominated the Dolphins, although they enjoyed only a three-point advantage at the half, 13-10. Mike Tolbert's 1-yard run for a TD midway through the third-quarter sealed the win. The Chargers piled up 116 yards rushing, led by Ryan Mathews' 81 yards on 16 carries. WR Vincent Jackson had no problems getting open deep against Miami's secondary, latching on to 3 of Rivers' passes for 108 yards, including a first-quarter 55-yard TD. San Diego was playing without All-Pro TE Antonio Gates for the second straight contest. Gates is suffering from a sore right foot and is listed as day-to-day. Reigning Super Bowl champion Green Bay weren't very hospitable to the visiting Denver Broncos this past Sunday, almost toying with them before rolling to an easy 49-23 win. New Denver head coach John Fox is still tinkering with his personnel, trying to find a winning combination. QB Kyle Orton continues to be Fox's man, even though fans are yelling louder and louder for Tim Tebow. Denver's problems go far beyond QB however, and there is no quick fix on the horizon. Fox is a conservative coach, favoring the ball-control, stubborn defense template that served him well at times as head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Orton is a serviceable QB, and if given more skilled personnel, he could surprise. Unfortunately, Orton is stuck with what he has. RB Willis McGahee had a good outing versus Green Bay, running for 103 yards on 15 carries, while WR Brandon Lloyd is just below the league's elite class, but not by much. Fox's offense doesn't lend itself to big plays, and that seems to be what Bronco faithful prefer. Fox needs some times to transfer this team and it has been a painful transition. This game could be the one that turns it all around, or it could be the start to a very long season for the Broncos.
