| San Diego State Invades Air Force on Thursday Night |
College football odds for this game and all of the other games on the college football schedule for week seven can be found at online sportsbook BetPhoenix. San Diego State were home underdogs last week to 4-2, 2-0 Texas Christian and during the first half played like it falling behind 17-0 at the break. In the second half the Aztecs outscored the Horned Frogs 14-10 and at the start of the fourth quarter pulled within six points on senior quarterback Ryan Lindley's touchdown throw to sophomore fullback Chad Young. However during their next drive to possibly take the lead Lindley was picked off, one of three for the day and was just 15/for/41 on completions. After TCU booted a field goal to begin the second half, Lindley found sophomore tight end Gavin Escobar for a 16-yard TD. Both teams turned the ball over four times last Saturday, but the big area of concern for San Diego State was 0-for-4 on fourth down. Part of the problem was the Aztecs were outgained by the Horned Frogs 446-296 due to their inability to establish a running game or stop TCU on the ground. Meanwhile Air Force trailed by as many as 40 in a 59-33 loss at 4-2 Notre Dame. The Falcons started off slowly and paid for it falling behind 21-3 after one. Only junior placekicker Parker Herrington's 34-yard FG put points on the scoreboard the opening period for Air Force who scored with senior QB Tim Jefferson's legs and arm in the second quarter. Sophomore WR Ty MacArthur caught the passing TD, but after Jefferson's first score the extra point was blocked. After not scoring any during the third, Herrington began the fourth with a 32-yard FG. Then senior QB Connor Dietz found junior wide receiver Drew Coleman on a 36-yard pass play for a score and freshman RB Jonathan Lee ran eight yards in to cap the scoring. Although the Falcons outgained the Fight Irish 565-560, the game wasn't even close because of two turnovers and Notre Dame converting 8/of/11 third down plays compared to just 6/for/17 on third down for Air Force. A plus was the Falcons were 5/for/5 on fourth down, but all those conversions came with them already down by a lot. At home AFA has beaten two FCS schools and lost 35-19 to TCU in Week Two. On the road San Diego State beat 2-4 Army 23-20 and was mauled by No. 10 Michigan 28-7 the first four weeks of the season. This game will be very competitive and it won’t be surprising if it comes down to the last play of the game. These two teams will be evenly matched and it will be exciting to kick the week of with a great game.
