The Oregon Ducks are on Upset Alert Against the Arizona State Sun Devils

The Oregon Ducks have spent all year recovering after a week one loss, but now they will have to be on alert against Arizona State

Oregon started slow as well against the Golden Bears, but after trailing 15-14 the Ducks turned the offense and defense into another gear to win going away. Junior running back LaMichael James and freshman RB De'Anthony Thomas scampered for two touchdowns during the first half. In the second stanza Thomas caught two balls from junior quarterback Darron Thomas on top of a two-point completion after junior RB Kenjon Barner's 68-yard TD run. Thomas also hooked up with senior WR Lavasier Tuinei early in the fourth quarter to put the Ducks up 28.

The defense stepped up when it had too conceding three field goals to Cal and not allowing them to cash in any points during the second half despite the comfortable margin. In speaking of stepping up after the Utes scored to open the game the Sun Devils got on the board with junior QB Brock Osweiler finding junior wide receiver Jamal Miles in the end zone. Then freshman placekicker Alex Garoutte's FG put Arizona State ahead 10-7 at the break. In the second half Utah again scored early, but just as the Devil defense did in the first half they tightend up in the second not shielding another point.

Although Arizona State's offense didn't strike for a TD on their next possession following the Utes first second-half drive, 2:27 after another Garoutte FG Osweiler found senior WR Mike Willie for a TD. Then 1:16 later junior RB Cameron Marshall ran one in as Osweiler again hooked up with Willie at the start of fourth quarter to send the Utes to their second blowout loss at home. The Sun Devils better get ready for a rapid upgrade in offense next week in Oregon.

If the Sun Devil defense can get any penetration up front, this could be a very close game.
