| Mississippi will Try and Give the Alabama Crimson Tide the First Loss of the season |
All of the college football betting odds for the weekend can be found at BetPhoenix. If you’re looking for one of the best places to bet on college football, check out BetPhoenix. The Mississippi Rebels are at a crossroads and with a big win they could turn their season around but a few more tough losses and they will be on the outside looking in when bowl season rolls around. Randall Mackey appears to be the QB for now but it’s been a revolving door with Mackey’s suspension and subpar play from all three QB’s who have played. The Rebels use Jeff Scott a lot like they used to use Dexter McCluster as he is simply a playmaker and they try and get the ball into his hands however possible as a runner, receiver, and in the return game. Brandon Bolden has been getting the tough yards but with the offense revolving around Scott his carries have diminished to the point where he had just six carries last game at Fresno State. Ja-Mes Logan had three catches last game but with Mackey’s completion numbers so low we can’t expect much productivity from him. The Ole Miss defense has had trouble stopping teams especially late in games when they have had a chance to win. Mike Marry leads the Rebels with 51 tackles, Damien Jackson has 35, and Charles Sawyer has 28. Coach Huston Nutt has his share of fans and critics but another tough season record wise is only going to add to his growing number of critics. Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide look to be on a collision course with LSU to decide the SEC West and a spot in the SEC Title Game but he knows as well as anyone that they can’t take anything for granted when it comes to their SEC schedule. A.J. McCarron is getting better by the week at QB as he is doing what he needs to do, manage the game for a potent offense with an outstanding line and talent at the skill positions. Trent Richardson is gaining momentum in the Heisman race and Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks are about as solid of a receiving tandem as there are anywhere. The Tide defense has been bruising allowing 14 points once thus far with the rest of their games falling well below that mark. Mark Barron leads the defense with 75 tackles, Dont’a Hightower has 69, and C.J. Moseley has 67 on a defense loaded with guys who can hit and tackle. No one has been able to come close to Bama yet this season. The Tide is too tough to handle for this team, but Ole Miss will certainly give it a try on Saturday. Although the game may be a blowout, Ole Miss plus the ginormous points could be worth looking for this weekend.
