| Philadelphia Eagles Try to Soar Against the Washington Redskins |
The Eagles are in a world of trouble and after losing to the Buffalo Bills last week in which quarterback Michael Vick threw a career high 4 interceptions one of which was returned for a touchdown Philly has slipped into last place in their division and have left head coach Andy Reid, ownership, and the Eagles faithful scratching their head for answers. The Eagles must now travel to Washington to take on the Redskins who have had a full week off already after their bye week and can distance themselves in the division with a critical victory over Philadelphia. The Eagles needs to take a one game at a time approach for the remainder of the season as they have already failed to live up to expectations and have nothing to prove to anyone but themselves. Offensively they are still electric with Vick having many options through the air including Jeremy Maclin and Desean Jackson plus Lesean mcCoy in the backfield and into the screen. Defensively the Eagles need some work but they still have world class talent and will surely be fired up against the hated Redskins. Its now or never Philly let's see what you've got. The Redskins were an afterthought in the NFC East before coming into the season for everyone except Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman who prophesied that the Redskins not the Eagles were the team to beat in the East. So far... he's right. The Skins sit at 3-1 coming into this weekend's action and Grossman who has always been widely criticized for his play on the field has been quite good for the Skins and is actually leading the team to victory instead of just being a game manager and limiting mistakes. Santana Moss has been massive for Washington and the addition of Tim Hightower to a backfield that included Ryan Torain has been massive and Washington can move to 4-1 with a huge divisional victory here. the key for the Redskins is to get Hightower and Torain moving on the ground to keep the Eagles secondary out of the game and the Eagles offense off the field. However with the way both units on the Eagles have been playing of late perhaps it is smarter for Washington to go to the air and let their defense win the game against a turnover happy Michael Vick. This game is the must-win game for the Eagles if they want any chance to win the NFC East and the team standing in their way is the Washington Redskins.
